What we do

Victoria Music Ltd was founded in 2007 and formally incorporated as a company in 2013. We are a registered charity which aims to promote access to the arts for all, irrespective of age, ability, or means to pay.

Our belief is that the arts should be open to all, everyone is welcome with VML.

Our Projects

School holiday workshops

We provide free workshops for children who meet with barriers to participation due to ability, learning or cost.

The week long workshops run for three hours per day with the children being coached in singing, acting, and dancing, by our tutors. They can also try their hand at scenery, costume, and make-up. Our safeguarding officer and a team of CRB checked volunteers support the workshops, and the week culminates in a show for parents and guardians.

Youth Drama

Our youth drama group is a popular group for the young people of Halton.  Participants take part in full length shows and learn stagecraft, acting, interpreting scripts, writing for the stage, and many other disciplines at the weekly sessions. Two of our most recent performances, Evacs and Peter Pan Goes Pop! have been devised by VML members, and there is frequent collaboration with Vocalise and the adult drama group. Wednesdays from 5.30 – 7.00pm at St Michael’s church hall, Runcorn.

Adult Drama

The adult drama group has grown significantly since it began in 2016, and has continued to produce quality performances, with very positive reviews.

The latest performance was the hugely successful ‘Of Mice and Men’ . Previous productions have included The Rise and Fall of Little Voice, Hamlet, The Vagina Monologues and The Crucible.

Our upcoming plays are Sketch Show 2, Blithe Spirit, The Importance of Being Earnest, Abigails Party, and The Haunting of Hill House.

Wednesdays from 7.00-9.00pm at St Michael’s Church Hall, Runcorn

VML Music

VML Music is all about the craft of singing and performance for VML’s young people and adults. Our participants have performed multiple musical showcases on the mainstage at The Brindley theatre, and have also collaborated with the drama groups as with Our House : The Musical. In between shows the adults take part in fundraising showcases and challenge weeks with the aim being to give Halton adults coaching in singing and performing musical numbers, whilst also improving their physical and mental wellbeing. Thursdays from 7.00 -9.00pm  at St Michael’s Church Hall, Runcorn

Vocalise

Vocalise is run by VML in conjunction with The Studio, Widnes,  and is a singing and performance project for children and young people, where participants have the opportunity to access a stage, and a recording studio.

The emphasis is on fun and confidence building, incorporating performing arts coaching which we offer free of charge, and would be costly if accessed from commercial providers. They make friends, build their confidence, and gain valuable skills in communication, resilience, and self-improvement.

Saturday mornings, 11.00 – 12.30 @The Studio, Lacey Street, Widnes.

The Big Sing

Our open singing group is for pure health, fun, and wellbeing. Singing has been proven to improve both physical and mental health, and this group is all fun without the pressure of performance or solos. A great bridge into VML Music for those who wish to challenge themselves, or a worthwhile social and fun activity to boost your health. Every Tuesday 7.00-9.00pm at St Michael’s Church Hall, Runcorn.

VML Friends

This is a free of charge group  and is for anyone who would like to be in the company of other like minded adults. You can take part in activities designed to improve your mood such as crafts, singing for pleasure, or just a good chat. A light lunch is also provided.

Little Treasures

Little Treasures is our parent and toddler group. 9 – 10.30 Mondays at St Michael’s from February 2018,  and all for £1 per child including tea, toast and juice for the little people! All adults DBS checked and liability insurance in place. Come join us!

Who we are

The charity is run by an elected committee comprised of local people with an interest in the charity, and those we work with directly.
